Search Engine Optimization History
Whenever we think about search engine optimization one question always come in mind when was it started. I’ve read that somewhere it was started in the mid-1990s by Webmasters and content providers. They began optimizing sites for search engines.
Earlier webmasters used to submit a web site to the different search engines that would run through search engine robots and thereafter all the crawled pages were stored in the search engine’s database.
In this whole process first of all search engine spider dowanloads a page and stores it on the search engine’s server and then an indexer extracts numerous information regarding that page. This information contains keywords of the page and where these are placed as well as any and all the links, the page contains. On the basis of this information crawler crawles the page later.
Earlier search engines contained the information of pages which were provided by webmasters. Older versions of search algorithms strongly believed on the information which was provided by webmasters like the keyword meta tag, or index files in engines like ALIWEB. Meta-tags provided a guide that having on the basis of metatag page indexing was not consistent each page's content. Because some webmasters used meta tags by including irrelevant keywords that extraneous from the content of their pages, because they want to create attractive page and also want to increase their ROI. By erroneous and conflicting meta data in meta tags user have to face irrelevant search engines developed more complicated ranking algorithms, by including major factors:
Text within the title tag
URL directories and file names
HTML tags: Headings, emphasized () and strongly emphasized () text
Term frequency, both in the document and globally, often misunderstood and mistakenly referred to as Keyword density
Alt attributes for images
Text within NOFRAMES tags
